Nylon PA: Choosing a Polyamide Family
Nylon is the common family name for polyamides, including PA6, PA66, PA11 and PA12. Material reference.
Choosing a Polyamide Family
Separate a machined stock-shape enquiry from an injection-moulding or powder-printing enquiry. Then identify the required stiffness, wear, moisture condition and geometry. A nylon family label cannot define one dimensional tolerance or one set of mechanical values.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Request a full polymer and grade designation, product form and any reinforcement. State the conditioning and temperature used for acceptance. For a close-fit component, compare the dimension in its inspection condition with the intended service condition and agree any qualification needed before fixing production tolerances.

Reference and scope
Ensinger: polyamide material family provides material or specification background. The checks above are purchasing guidance; final acceptance values must come from the agreed grade, product specification and condition.
Send a drawing and material requirements for review. Include quantity, critical dimensions and the inspection evidence required with delivery.
