FR4 Sheet: Machined Electrical Insulation
FR-4 sheet for machined insulation is a glass-epoxy laminate product; it is a different purchasing task from a copper-clad PCB stackup. Material reference.
Machined Electrical Insulation
For a spacer or insulating plate, compare the actual sheet grade, thickness and electrical requirements. Do not assume that a PCB laminate datasheet or a G-10 trade description provides the evidence needed for a machined FR-4 component.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Request the manufacturer's grade and applicable laminate specification. Define orientation, hole finish, edge quality and electrical clearances. State the moisture and temperature conditions for acceptance, and inspect the completed part after any coating or bonded hardware is added.
