FR4: PCB Laminate and Stackup
FR-4 is a laminate category containing multiple resin and glass constructions, not one fixed dielectric constant or thermal rating. Material reference.
PCB Laminate and Stackup
Use this page for PCB stackup selection; use the FR-4 sheet guide for machined insulating stock. Choose the supplier grade and construction with the board fabricator before setting impedance or thermal acceptance. Different cores and prepregs should not be collapsed into one generic material value.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Specify laminate manufacturer and grade, core and prepreg construction, copper weights and finished thickness. Define impedance, assembly profile and required reliability tests. Approve the stackup and any permitted substitutes before fabrication, keeping the material record linked to the finished board lot.

Isola: PCB laminate and prepreg material selection provides material or specification background. The checks above are purchasing guidance; final acceptance values must come from the agreed grade, product specification and condition.
