ABS Plastic: Selecting an ABS Variant
ABS is acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, a polymer family with multiple commercial formulations. Material reference.
Selecting an ABS Variant
Start an enclosure enquiry by deciding whether the part will be machined, moulded or printed. Then identify whether flame behaviour, appearance, impact or dimensional fit is the controlling requirement. A standard ABS stock shape, an ABS filament and a flame-retardant moulding compound are different purchasing choices.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Request the manufacturer and exact grade, colour and process. Define wall thickness, cosmetic faces and snap-fit or fastening details. Compare the finished part under the intended temperature and cleaning conditions; do not treat generic ABS properties as a certificate for a specific formulation.
