ABS 3D Printing: Printed Enclosures and Process Control
ABS printing uses an identified thermoplastic feedstock and build process; it is distinct from moulded or machined ABS. Material reference.
Printed Enclosures and Process Control
For an enclosure prototype, decide whether the sample will verify appearance, assembly or load-bearing function. Do not approve a production design from a print that represents only the outer shape. Compare orientation and support strategy with the critical clips, bosses and mating faces.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Record filament grade, printer, orientation, walls and infill. Define dimensional acceptance after cooling and finishing, including the mounting and cover fit. Test loaded features in the actual force direction, and retain the process settings with the first-article report for repeat orders.
