Titanium: Grade Selection Before Machining
Titanium includes commercially pure grades and alloyed grades; it is not one interchangeable engineering material. Material reference.
Grade Selection Before Machining
Begin with the controlling requirement: forming, mass, strength, corrosion environment or a customer-specific material specification. Compare Grade 2 with Grade 5 for different design routes, and use Grade 23 only when its particular specification is needed.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Send the product form, full grade, treatment condition and critical geometry. Request a stock certificate and a machining and finishing review. For a regulated or customer-qualified part, retain the exact approved specification and traceability requirements rather than replacing them with a generic titanium label.

Reference and scope
TIMET: titanium grade and product data sheets provides material or specification background. The checks above are purchasing guidance; final acceptance values must come from the agreed grade, product specification and condition.
Send a drawing and material requirements for review. Include quantity, critical dimensions and the inspection evidence required with delivery.
