For a welded vessel component or fabricated bracket, decide whether the drawing requires 304L specifically or permits certified dual-grade stock. The letter L does not remove the need for a welding procedure, surface restoration or a corrosion review.

Manufacturing and acceptance checks

Ask the supplier to identify the exact standard and certificate coverage of any dual-grade offer. Specify weld preparation, filler requirements where applicable and post-fabrication cleaning. Check dimensions after welding and define the inspection of welds and adjacent surfaces before accepting the assembly.
