SUS303: Turned Parts and Joining Constraints

SUS303 is a free-machining austenitic stainless grade. Material reference.

Turned Parts and Joining Constraints

For a turned fitting, review the machining benefit together with any joining and corrosion requirements. Do not accept it as an unrestricted replacement for SUS304 simply because both are austenitic. Identify whether the component will be welded, heavily formed or exposed to an aggressive fluid before pricing stock.

Manufacturing and acceptance checks

Specify the product standard, bar condition and critical bore or thread finish. Request chemistry traceability and define deburring and cleaning at sealing surfaces. If a joining operation is required, obtain a specific process review and compare a SUS304 alternative before the material purchase is released.
