SUS301: Spring Temper and Forming Sequence
SUS301 is an austenitic stainless grade commonly encountered in spring-strip enquiries. Material reference.
Spring Temper and Forming Sequence
For a clip, separate the grade from the delivered temper and required spring force. A part formed from soft stock and a part cut from spring-tempered strip may need different bend geometry. Do not assign one tensile value to all SUS301 strip conditions.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Specify strip thickness, temper, rolling direction and edge condition. Include the installation deflection, retained force and number of cycles in the drawing review. Inspect the first article after forming and finishing, and agree whether the spring test is performed dry, lubricated or after environmental exposure.
