PE Polyethylene: Selecting the PE Type
Polyethylene includes distinct material types, including LDPE and UHMWPE. A generic PE callout is not enough for a precision component. Material reference.
Selecting the PE Type
Start with the function: flexible cover, chemical container, sliding guide or another use. Then compare the actual grade and product form. A low-density flexible material and an ultra-high-molecular-weight wear stock answer different design questions despite sharing the polyethylene family name.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Request the complete grade, density or molecular-weight class where applicable and process. Define load duration, temperature, fluid exposure and acceptable deformation. For a machined fit, agree inspection in the final supported condition and evaluate the part under representative service loading.

Reference and scope
Ensinger: polyethylene material types provides material or specification background. The checks above are purchasing guidance; final acceptance values must come from the agreed grade, product specification and condition.
Send a drawing and material requirements for review. Include quantity, critical dimensions and the inspection evidence required with delivery.
