For a sleeve or flexible cover, compare installation force, repeated bending and contact with adjacent materials. Do not approve a replacement solely because its colour and nominal hardness match. The application may also constrain migration or substance content.

Manufacturing and acceptance checks

Specify supplier grade, hardness method, thickness and intended exposure. Ask for application-specific declarations where required and define the assembly-fit test. Evaluate the finished part after the agreed aging or contact condition, recording both dimensional fit and any surface or flexibility changes.
