For an outdoor or water-contact gasket, list all fluids, cleaning agents and temperatures rather than relying on a general weather-resistant description. A compound selected for one water system may not have the documentation or compatibility needed for another use.

Manufacturing and acceptance checks

Specify the compound, hardness, cure and finished geometry. Define compression, temperature cycling and any application-specific declaration required. Evaluate the installed gasket and its recovery after exposure, and review incidental oil or assembly-lubricant contact before accepting the material choice.
