Carbon Fiber: Fibre Selection Before Laminate Design
Carbon fibre is a reinforcement; the fibre grade alone does not define the performance of a finished composite component. Material reference.
Fibre Selection Before Laminate Design
Use this page to select the reinforcement, then use the CFRP guide to specify the laminate. Compare fibre product, tow, sizing and resin compatibility before deciding that a higher tensile-strength fibre will improve the part. Load direction and laminate architecture remain separate design inputs.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Request the exact fibre manufacturer and grade, tow and surface treatment. Identify the intended resin and production process. Keep fibre datasheet values separate from laminate test results and require representative cured material evidence before using a value as a component design allowable.

Reference and scope
Toray: fibre and prepreg data sheets, including product suffixes provides material or specification background. The checks above are purchasing guidance; final acceptance values must come from the agreed grade, product specification and condition.
Send a drawing and material requirements for review. Include quantity, critical dimensions and the inspection evidence required with delivery.
