C260 Brass: Formed Brass and Temper

C26000 is a wrought copper-zinc alloy commonly called cartridge brass. Material reference.

Formed Brass and Temper

For a drawn or formed component, compare the available temper with the amount and direction of deformation. A turned-part machinability comparison is not the right basis for choosing a deep-drawn sheet. Resolve the full UNS designation before accepting a short C260 callout.

Manufacturing and acceptance checks

State the sheet or strip specification, thickness, temper and grain direction. Agree forming stages and any intermediate treatment with the supplier. Inspect wall thinning, cracking and final geometry on a first article, and define the finish after forming rather than approving only the unformed stock appearance.
