AZ61A Magnesium: Wrought Stock and Process Selection
AZ61A is a wrought magnesium-alloy designation. Material reference.
Wrought Stock and Process Selection
When comparing a lightweight component with AZ31B, use the proposed extrusion or forging condition rather than mixing property tables from unrelated product forms. The geometry may favour a different manufacturing route even if the material comparison appears attractive.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Provide the stock form, section dimensions, final condition and surface protection requirements. Review machining and joining with the supplier before approving the grade. Define the critical fit and corrosion exposure, and require the certificate to identify the actual alloy and condition used in production.
