Aluminum PCB: Aluminium-Backed Board Selection
An aluminium-backed PCB is an insulated metal-substrate construction, not a circuit made from bare aluminium alone. Material reference.
Aluminium-Backed Board Selection
For an LED or power assembly, evaluate dielectric thermal resistance and the heat-sink interface alongside the backing metal. A low board temperature at one operating point is not a general guarantee of thermal performance. Compare copper-backed options using the same assembly and load.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
State backing thickness, dielectric grade and thickness, circuit copper and mounting details. Define isolation, power, ambient conditions and the temperature measurement points. Ask for the proposed stackup and test representative assembled boards before accepting a lower-cost dielectric or alternate substrate.

Reference and scope
Henkel: insulated metal substrates in thermal assemblies provides material or specification background. The checks above are purchasing guidance; final acceptance values must come from the agreed grade, product specification and condition.
Send a drawing and material requirements for review. Include quantity, critical dimensions and the inspection evidence required with delivery.
