Aluminum 5052: Bent Enclosures and Stock Temper
5052 is a non-heat-treatable aluminium-magnesium alloy. Material reference.
Bent Enclosures and Stock Temper
For an enclosure, compare the offered temper with the bend geometry and finished stiffness requirement. Buying a harder sheet without checking the bend can increase fabrication risk. A 6060 extrusion may be useful for a different construction, but it is not a direct sheet-material substitute.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
State temper, sheet thickness, bend radii and visible surfaces. Agree the order of forming, joining and finishing. Check the first article for corner cracking, panel alignment and finish consistency; where the component seals, inspect the flange geometry after the complete manufacturing sequence.
