Aluminum 2014: Forgings and Machined Load Paths
2014 is a heat-treatable aluminium alloy in the copper-alloyed 2xxx family. Material reference.
Forgings and Machined Load Paths
For a loaded bracket or forging, match the product form and temper to the drawing before comparing strength data. A plate, bar and forging with the same alloy number need not share the same acceptance requirements or test direction.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Specify the material standard, temper, grain direction and any required forging orientation. Include machining allowance and inspection after final treatment. Compare a 7050 alternative only through the design's strength, corrosion, joining and inspection requirements; retain any approved material change in the drawing and purchase records.
