1060 Steel: Spring Blanks and Heat Treatment
1060 is a plain-carbon grade used where the heat-treatment route is central to the finished component. Material reference.
Spring Blanks and Heat Treatment
For a spring blank, work backwards from the required deflection and life to the strip thickness, edge condition and final heat treatment. Do not buy a harder delivery temper simply to avoid defining the spring's operating strain or forming sequence.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Quote soft stock for forming and hardened stock for cutting as separate alternatives. Specify edge preparation, decarburization assessment, final hardness and the dimensions to be checked after treatment. A first-article bend or fatigue programme should reproduce the actual restraint and travel.

Baosteel: structural and spring steel grade families provides material or specification background. The checks above are purchasing guidance; final acceptance values must come from the agreed grade, product specification and condition.
Send a drawing and material requirements for review. Include quantity, critical dimensions and the inspection evidence required with delivery.
