Zamak 3: General Die-Casting Design
Zamak 3 is a zinc die-casting alloy designation. Material reference.
General Die-Casting Design
For a housing, review wall thickness, draft, parting line and cosmetic surfaces before comparing material prices. The cast geometry and finishing route may dominate cost and quality more than a small alloy-price difference. Distinguish dimensions held by tooling from those requiring machining.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Provide the drawing, annual quantity, surface finish and assembly loads. Mark sealing or threaded features and agree porosity acceptance where it affects function. Approve a coated first article and record the alloy identity rather than accepting an unspecified zinc casting.
