SUS410: Hardened Stainless Parts
SUS410 is a martensitic stainless-steel designation. Material reference.
Hardened Stainless Parts
For a machined stem or wear component, separate annealed stock properties from the final hardened and tempered condition. Do not use the stainless label as evidence that corrosion performance equals an austenitic grade. Compare the actual operating fluid and required surface hardness together.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Specify the treatment condition, hardness range and the location of measurements. Include finish allowance for bearing or sealing diameters and inspect straightness after treatment. Agree corrosion and surface-finish requirements for the finished part, especially where grinding or joining changes the supplied condition.
