Rogers 5880: PTFE Laminate and Fabrication Review
RT/duroid 5880 is a Rogers PTFE-based high-frequency laminate. Material reference.
PTFE Laminate and Fabrication Review
For a microwave board, review the laminate with the fabricator's process capability instead of treating it as a drop-in FR-4 replacement. Compare thickness, foil, bonding and hole requirements with the intended electrical model. Material loss is only one contributor to the completed circuit's loss.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Specify the exact laminate construction, copper and stackup. Define frequency, impedance, loss and any plated-hole or multilayer requirements. Agree process and inspection before layout release, and verify representative coupons or circuits with the same construction that will be used for production.
