P20 Tool Steel: Mould Blocks and Supplied Hardness
P20 is a mould-steel designation frequently encountered in pre-hardened block purchasing. Material reference.
Mould Blocks and Supplied Hardness
For a cavity, specify whether the supplier is pricing pre-hardened stock, a modified commercial grade or a block needing later treatment. A P20-family trade name can include modifications that affect polishing, welding and the available section, so retain the exact supplier designation.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Put cavity depth, polish or texture target, supplied hardness and any ultrasonic requirement in the RFQ. Discuss repair welding before it occurs. Approve a representative surface sample where appearance is critical, and inspect cavity dimensions after any finishing process that removes or changes material.
