Inconel 718: Aging and Finished-Part Acceptance
INCONEL 718 is an age-hardenable nickel alloy, UNS N07718. Material reference.
Aging and Finished-Part Acceptance
For a loaded component, the distinction between solution-treated stock and the final aged condition is essential. Decide whether aging occurs before or after key machining operations and compare data for the same product form and treatment.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
State the governing material specification, final condition and mechanical acceptance requirements. Ask for the heat-treatment record and define the test locations. Inspect critical dimensions after the last treatment; for a close-fit part, agree finishing allowance and a first-article report rather than accepting only the incoming stock certificate.
