High Temperature Silicone: Time, Temperature and Compression
High-temperature silicone is an application description for an identified silicone formulation, not a universal temperature rating. Material reference.
Time, Temperature and Compression
For a hot seal, distinguish short peaks from continuous operation and include the compression and fluid environment. A headline maximum temperature does not establish acceptable sealing force after prolonged exposure. Compare formulations using the required service duration and failure criterion.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Specify compound, hardness, cure and post-cure. Give the full temperature cycle, joint movement and required life. Request relevant aging data and test the finished gasket for leakage and recovery after the same exposure, with any assembly adhesive or lubricant included in the compatibility review.
