Start a gear enquiry with the tooth geometry, transmitted load and required life. Treat alloy identity, case depth and core response as separate acceptance items. Replacing it with 20Cr or 8620 requires a drawing review, not just a translation of the material name.

Manufacturing and acceptance checks

Include the forging or bar route, grain-flow requirement where applicable, case-depth method and final tooth inspection. Agree distortion allowance before carburizing and identify surfaces to mask. The delivered report should connect the heat number to both the heat-treatment batch and the inspected gear batch.
