1026 Steel: Mechanical Tube Purchasing
1026 is a carbon-steel designation; a tube order also needs a manufacturing and delivery specification. Material reference.
Mechanical Tube Purchasing
For a sleeve or hollow shaft, compare the available tube wall and bore allowance with machining the part from solid 1020 bar. A grade callout alone does not establish whether the tube is seamless, welded, drawn over mandrel, normalized or stress relieved.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
Put the tube route, outside diameter, wall tolerance and straightness on the enquiry. Agree where eccentricity is measured and whether the bore will be finished after heat treatment; do not accept a tube certificate that identifies only the commercial size.

Reference and scope
Alro: metals product and specification guide provides material or specification background. The checks above are purchasing guidance; final acceptance values must come from the agreed grade, product specification and condition.
Send a drawing and material requirements for review. Include quantity, critical dimensions and the inspection evidence required with delivery.
