4130 Steel: Tubes and Welded Assemblies
4130 is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. Material reference.
Tubes and Welded Assemblies
A welded tube frame and a machined bar part need different purchasing details even when both drawings say 4130. For the frame, prioritize tube condition, joint design and a qualified joining plan; for the bar part, prioritize section response and final mechanical requirements.
Manufacturing and acceptance checks
State the applicable tube or bar specification and distinguish normalized, annealed and heat-treated supply. Agree weld procedure qualification, dimensional inspection after welding and any subsequent treatment. Do not transfer tensile values from a thin tube brochure directly to a thick machined lug.
